How to Clean Junk and Large Files?

The broom ball opens the junk cleaner, a second window that frees space outside of your media collection.

Step 1: Click the broom ball

Hover the tool balls in the top-right corner of the main window and click the broom.

Step 2: Wait for the automatic scan

The cleaner scans right away and shows the amount it has already found plus the item it is working on. Stop cancels the scan at any time.

Step 3: Review the Junk Files tab

Each category has a checkbox and a size. The date range on the left switches between Junk Files and Large Files, and the totals at the bottom show how much is total and how much is selected.

Step 5: Switch to Large Files

The Large Files tab lists the biggest files in your user folders. Filter by size, then sort the list to find the space hogs.

Step 6: Clean and rescan

Click Clean to send the selected items to the Recycle Bin, or Rescan to refresh the list. Because deleted items go to the Recycle Bin, nothing is lost immediately.

Tips

  • Downloads is not ticked by default: check what is inside before you clean it.
  • Clear the browser caches only when your browsers are closed, otherwise the files may be in use.
  • Run the cleaner regularly, once a month is usually enough.
